Title: Where is everybody?
Post by: DastardlyDick on 21 August, 2012, 04:08:52 PM
I realise it's holiday season etc., but there doesn't seem to be much going on around here?
This is giving a certain ex member (who I shall call Voldemort) quite a lot of joy, judging by an email he's just sent out in which - amongst other things - Voldemort  says "only 4 members posting about banal things".

Yes, I was amused by the email from Voldemort as well.

For someone who seemingly thinks they are a paragon of virtue to be completely and deliberately breaking the unsolicited email laws is quite interesting.

It is Holiday season DD and  we recommend that London $chunting should not resume until after the Olympic farce has been and gone mate. I can assure you a fair bit is being done behind the scenes which must remain hush hush. It is so hush hush I am not allowed to even think about it.   :o
All will become clear in the fullness of time.  :-ev-:

P.S.  It was my email account being compromised that triggered this unsolicited email to you all so I have removed the offending email address from my contacts.  8)

Yeah, as Pat Pending said, we decided to knock off $CHUNTING during the Olympics, the thoughts were, old bill will have enough to do without the potential for being called out us as well, even though it doesn't happen very often.

Given that the current threat level published by the Home Office is "Substantial" I think it's an excellent idea not to provoke a reaction from law enforcers of any kind. It seems that you can get arrested by the police for "not enjoying yourself"

That reminds me. There's a squirrel runs along my garden fence most days.

What colour is it?  If it's grey I think I've seen it.

You see all sorts of things when checking out the council's painting skills.

Well, I wrote to my MP about the "Appeals Service" that the BPA were setting up on behalf of their members.

I pointed out that such a "service" could hardly be considered "independent" when the organisation that was setting it up was totally "dependent" on their members who were the ones that would be being appealed against...

He says that he is looking into it. We'll see.

However, (unlike some people who have posted on this forum) I really didn't think it was worth posting every single little thing...

"Where is everbody?"

Well I don't know about the rest of you but I've been in the Isle of Wight for the last week or so, and made the conscious decision not to access the interweb thingy while I was there.

And I can vouch for the fact that there are lots of scooterists on the IoW this weekend (see TTT's earlier post) because we had several of them staying at the same B&B as us (the riders not the scooters). Noisy little buggers they were (the scooters not the riders).

I was told by one of the riders that a couple of years ago they estimated there were 15,000 scooters attending the rally, and I can believe that might be true having witnessed the arrival of our ferry which had to unload at least 200 bikes. We saw two other ferries on our way back too and these had a similar number on them. When we docked there were at least another hundred queueing to get on, with more arriving by the minute.

I had to smile when the ferry was unloading the 200 aforementioned bikes though. Unfortunately, the vast majority of riders had forsaken the practicality of a decent wet suit for the sake of style, and were last seen heading off to their rallying points in a torrential downpour that would have made short work of their parkas and ordinary trousers. I wouldn't have thought the drowned rat look was the one they were aiming for. :rotfl:
