I'm trying to think where the $camera is positioned, 'cause if it's "mounted on Throwley Way" as stated in the paper, it's got one helluva zoom to get a picture of a car in Lodge Place where Farm Foods are located.
I'll see if I can get down there for a proper look asap.

OK, went down to Sutton today, and this ticket must have been issued by a $car, because there's no fixed camera there that I can see.
Should anyone be wishing to $chunt down there, there's a dedicated (Free!) m/c bay outside the Magistrates Court, which is right next to the junction of Throwley Way with Lodge Place, everywhere else seems to be either Yellow or Red Lines!
I wouldn't be surprised if Sutton Council do send the $cars down there, as judging from what I saw today they must absolutley rake it in.

Hi, I'm a new member concerned about the Sutton camera cars - there appears to be two. There isn't a camera in Throwley Way, the woman in the paper thought there was, but it was a car that issued the fine. If some one would like to meet me at Lodge Place, I will be there at 12:00 tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday. I'll wait by the bike park next to Lodge Place. The car usually gets there sometime between 12:00 and 2:00, but it might be later.
Cheers,
Overlord

Welcome aboard Overlord, If nobody is able to meet up pictures of the $cam car in place, taken from different view points is always helpful for future reference. include any signs re cameras as well if possible.

There are no signs warning of cameras anywhere on Throwley Way. Sutton doesn't seem to have very much in the way of CCTV at all.

I was in Sutton today at 11:45 and the $car was already there. I spoke to the guy in Carpet Right and he said the $car does two and sometimes three visits a day. Later I saw it again at 2:30 in the after noon. I'm told that the base is somewhere near St Helier Hospital in Wrythe Lane. I'll have a look early tomorrow (Saturday) before going into Sutton. I'll be by the bike park next to Lodge Place by 12:00 midday. I would like to discuss with someone what we can do, as I don't want to scare Farm Food's customers away. There are no signs indicating that CCTV is in use, surely this is not right. I've warned the managers of both shops that you may be coming down and not to be alarmed. The $car's route seems to start in Wrythe Lane, then Rose Hill roundabout, then down into Sutton via Rosehill and Angel Hill and into Throwley Way. After Manor Place and Lodge Place, it turns left by the multi storey car park into Greyhound Road. So far, I don't know after that. I've sent some pictures via the web site, also a copy of a letter I sent to the council leader two weeks ago re the letter that appeared in the Sutton Guardian. The police have responded, but no one else so far.

I had an interesting day last Saturday. I spent a couple of hours around the area near St Helier Hospital from about 10:00 to 11:30 trying to find the base I was told about, but no sign of any $cars and didn't see one in Sutton until 2:30. I managed to find their office and the yard where they operate from during the day time in Sutton, although they possibly don't keep them there at night. This got their attention, because later in the day one of their drivers came on foot to Lodge Place to find me. He wanted to know why I was taking photos of the $cars and generally hassling them. We had a long chat, very amiable and he assured me that since the court case that provoked the letter in the Sutton Guardian, they had changed their way of working and were allowing more discretion. Make of that what you will, but I told him that he would have a hard job convincing the public of that. I asked him why they left the scene as soon as they saw me and he replied because they were afraid of what I might do. I assured him that I had no criminal intent and was just there to make his job as difficult as possible. While we were talking, a $car turned up and true to form, started to make off, but on seeing their colleague with me decided to stay for a natter. I told them that I was there to record any abuse of power and that if any was suspected, we would be watching. With that, we all parted company. I made no mention of the name of our organisation, so if you do turn up, hopefully they won't make a connection. More pictures on the web site.

I think you will find they are probably reading this Overlord ,(most of the parking weasels do!)
We actually try to make their job easier not more difficult, by making sure the public are aware of them. The stated aim of any traffic enforcement is Zero offences and therefore Zero PCN's issued. Because as you know they say it is not about the money, so by helping out as a good citizen does as per David's Big Society we are trying to help them achieve this target . Simples. ;D

We pretty much do their jobs for them by educating drivers and helping them to drive more safely. That way, CEOs can relax and put their feet up when we're around. That's what nice guys and gals we are.

I would just like to point out that I stopped hassling them after I joined and read info on the web site. Just photos since.

You've got it just right Overlord. The one thing they could get us for is harassment of an individual, and that's why we make it perfectly clear we will not get in the faces of the operators or even engage with them unless they approach us first (as you did).

By the way, I do hope you carry a copy of the Statement of Intent when you are out and about? ;)

Thanks for the statement pic Ewan Hoosami, it's a bit blurred, so have written a new document word for word and used the NoToMob heading.

I've been contacted by the Sutton Guardian regarding the various letters I wrote before I knew about NoToMob. They would like to be involved and their reporter James Pepper who I met with today may email this web site regarding the $cars. They suggest that I let them know as soon as I know when you intend to come to Sutton. Could be good publicity. If you would like to email James, his email address is "jpepper@london.newsquest.co.uk"

The Sutton Guardian are coming to do some pictures tomorrow (Tuesday 19th) for an article in this week's paper. If anyone would like to come along to boost the numbers (there's only me otherwise) it would be greatly appreciated. We are meeting in Sutton at Lodge Place beside the motor cycle park, next to the old court house opposite the multi storey car park at 12:30 pm. :dancing:

When will they learn that we are not vigilantes? :bashy: :bashy: :bashy:

Definition of vigilante: "One who takes or advocates the taking of law enforcement into one's own hands."

We "assist" operators and authorities to achieve their stated aim of attaining "100% compliance without penalties" in accordance with the Secretary of State's statutory guidance (see 15 here http://assets.dft.gov.uk/publications/tma-part-6-cpe-statutory-guidance/betterprkstatutoryguid.pdf (http://assets.dft.gov.uk/publications/tma-part-6-cpe-statutory-guidance/betterprkstatutoryguid.pdf)). We do not take the law into our own hands. We merely help those enforcing it to achieve their aims.

By the way, nice one Overlord. :aplude: :aplude: :aplude:. We really must come down soon and meet with you (and maybe the press). You have done all the groundwork for us, for which we are most grateful, so I think we have to make you a priority. I will contact members offline (we don't like to announce $chunts on here because we don't want authorities to be ready for us ;) ) and see what we can do once the weather finally gives us a break.

In the meantime, keep up the good work mate. You are doing yourself proud. :aplude: :aplude: :aplude: :aplude: :aplude: :aplude: :aplude: :aplude: :aplude: :aplude: :aplude: :aplude:

Can one of the mods now please create a child board for Sutton (per the heading) and move this thread into it. Thanks.

You know I'd love to give it a go myself, but I value my testicles too much and would not want them removed by the angry mods when I almost certainly ***k it up!
