Title: $chunting: Level 2 (Medway)
Post by: The Bald Eagle on 06 February, 2011, 06:54:06 PM
Because of recent events our plans for extending $chunting to other parts of the country have had to be brought forward. Add to this the fact that Monkey Girl is going to be climbing the walls if she doesn't get her $chunting fix soon (as will others I suspect) and inevitably we are drawn to the only reasonable solution that will accomodate everyone.

So boys and girls, $chunting is coming to Rochester about 3 months ahead of schedule.

Monkey Girl has promised us all a bacon roll and a cup of tea on arrival, (pm her for details if you haven't already got them) and the inaugural Rochester $chunt is planned to commence 10.00am sharp this Wednesday 9th February.

VERY IMPORTANT: We are going to be in Kent copper territory so please make sure you have a copy of the Statement of Intent with you.

We have done all this before with the Met and they have come to accept that we are not guilty of criminal activity. However, we're not dealing with the Met now, and we fully expect to be warned off at least once, probably under Section 5 of the Public Order Act (harrassment), so we must be prepared for some kind of confrontation. We will brief on this before we start on Wednesday and I will put Mrs Eagle on alert to have the emergency slush fund on hand to come and bail me out. :o

To give us some idea of numbers please post on this thread if you are available.

I will be going from Enfield around the M25 to pick up the A2 if anyone wants to meet up.

Do you think the $camera boys have any idea of what is just about to happen? :-* :-* ??? ??? :bashy: :rotfl:

I'm going to be there  :dancing:

BE i will be getting on the A2 at Bexleyheath. I can wait under the bridge at said junction if you wanna look out me.

If we are having grub at MG's and starting (hitting the street) at 10, what time you thinking of getting to rochester and i'll work out an eta of you passing me.

I'm thinking it will take me about half an hour to get to the Bridge and then another half hour from there to Rochester. I'd like to be there for 9.30 so will leave my house at 8.30.

Then again I have no experience of what the M25 is like at that time of day, so I will be guided by anyone who does.

I'll be leaving at 8.00 so your 8.30 may be ok. Like I say, I have no experience of that stretch of the M25 at that time of day, so it's all guesswork at the moment.

Sadly this one I will have to leave to you pro`s as I start the Knowledge this week and my little 125 on a L plate aint getting me down to sunny Kent  :P

This said, whilst you lot play with the wet behind the ears $cameras (Boy what a shock for them) :-ev-: , I will maintain due diligence up here in the smoke as Twitter reported a WCC $car heading S/B on Park Lane this AM :dancing:    Clearly they have somewhere to go and we need to find out where  The cabbies have been asked to let us know.

Have fun guys and some videos/reports are sure to come but as BE has already stated, be careful as from Bailiff experience, Kent Constabulary is a very different animal to the Met and their knowledge (or lack of) of NoToMob may lead to an incident or two. I have attached 2 documents, one our "Statement of Intent" that BE produced and another re the law on filming in a public place. This one is MPS specific but unless I have missed something in the press, Kent Cops don`t use Sect 44 any more either. It maybe an idea to print these off and have them to hand.

Stay safe.

With regard to filming in Kent i have asked Kent Police to advise me of their policy. If you do a google search they are a little OTT regarding this, or have been in the past.

Fingers crossed i get a reply by wednesday.
Title: Re: $chunting: Level 2 (Medway)
Post by: BailiffHunter on 07 February, 2011, 06:10:56 PM
I`ve done some digging and it appears Kent Police were OTT at the same time the MPS was. Sec 44 was widely used but this has been tightened up now due to civil liberty groups campaigning. Sect 44 was a blanket reason for any stop the cops wanted to make as there was no come back/no complaint possible.

also guys we need to find out medways reasons for using the cars?
of course we all know the purpose, but are they stating them as visible deter-ants? or just for enforcing?
this could alter our approach to the situation a little no?

As distasteful as I find it, I'm afraid if we see one of these things at a school I will be waiting round the corner for it to go off and do something naughty. This is what they were designed for and I wouldn't dare stop them from keeping the public safe.

Their problem with this kind of thing is the law of diminishing returns.  Once it's out on the mumsnet, you can bet your life that the word goes out that the scar is about, so that's another day without tickets.  And a day without tickets can only mean one thing.

100% compliance without penalties. I don't have a problem with that. ;D

And do you know why? Because for 20 months between March 2009 and November 2010 the incompetents at Wastemonster didn't have the right certification to enforce parking infringements using $cars that have "PARKING ENFORCEMENT" written all over them. :bashy: :bashy: :bashy: :bashy: :bashy:

Well now that Islington has been mentioned both on here and NTBPT thought I would add my own little pennies worth :-ev-: :-ev-:

Dear Sir/Madam

With regards to the below request, which has not yet been answered, which I believe is unacceptable to not have received a reply.
I would now ask that this matter is given urgent attention. As I originally pointed out in my letter, the protest group No to Bike Parking tax have indicated that parking charges in Islington are likely to start and I would like to know one way or the other. In addition as I have now been made aware further matters involving the Pay by Phone Parking services from Verrus UK Ltd, and I am concerned that my data is not secure and that 3rd parties will have access to it.

Please reply soonest as some 4 months have past from my original e mail

Yours sincerely

Oh god, here we go again! I have to drop the kids off at school so can't leave till 08.45 at the earliest. Likely that my eta wouldn't be till 10.15-10.30 ish? Is that any good? According to Google maps its 76 miles to Rochester and approx 1hr 35mins. If its going to be too late and hold everyone up then no bother, I will just have to make do with WESC!

Let me know, by the way, I do eat cold bacon rolls, no bother!!! dr00L

On another note, has anyone thought about getting a contact number for a reporter from "The Medway Messanger", would be a good photo and publicity opportunity! ;D

If you get there later don't worry. If you call me, Monkey Girl or Tom Tom we can talk you in from wherever you are, or one of the local will come and get you.

@Rs2k. Are we still on for meeting at the services just before the Bridge on the M25? I should be there between 8.30 and 8.45 depending on traffic

@Peperami. Not sure that I will be going anywhere near where you suggested we meet near Bexleyheath, so please pm me if you want to find somewhere else to join up.

Ok i have just had a nice chat with Kent Police, and without giving anything in writting, its not a problem. I sort of said what we maybe filming, ie a car, or a council vehicle. I said we normally deal with the Met, and even tho they have complaints for the council they are happy we are not breaking any laws.

They asked me to give them a call on the day that we maybe thinking of filming and letting them know what area.

I never gave them much detail, as when i started talking to them, i was not sure on how they would be, so i never said we will be hunting a scamera car  :rotfl:

Let me know if you want me make more contact with the police, so they can do a little research in the morning.

As i know the area a little, my only worry is the roads being narrow, one way no places to park.

MG, can we still park on the pavement??

BE dont worry

Oh crabby, I'll try an sort out the gatso's with shrink wrap  :rotfl:

But if i miss em, you'll find your first as you come down the slip road onto the A2 at the Sun in the sands R bout.

Next just after the Kidbrook turning, about 2 miles along. then clear till you go through a tunnel, then you will find 3 more all close to junctions. When you go past the Bexleyheath/Crayford slip road A223 you will be clear to open it up, all the way down the A2 till you turn off, (or the A2 turns into the M2) but unmarked plod, that i cant help you with  :-ev-:

So, is it going to be Bomber, Crabby and myself making our way after the WMBC?  Anyone else doing WMBC first?

Does anyone mind if I pop my $CHunting cherry on my local council.  I live down here in the Medway Towns so would happily give my time to assist the lovely Medway $cars.

Can't think of a better place to do it, it's nice not to have to go too far to get home after a cherry popping session :-ev-:

Hiya Spica,

Well Got to say folk in Medway are most welcoming, plenty of support. The Lovely Lady in question was Blinky. Monkey Girl  is keen to keep things up with Medway so get in contact with her, and she can show you the art of $CHUNTING.
We ended up setting up camp in B&Q carpark, Strood outside the pigpen as none of the scars wanted to play. Well not with me there  :rotfl: so not sure at the mo if they did in the end come out.

Anyways welcome to the site, and tell your mates and you can be part of the Medway chapter  :-ev-:

Thanks to all for making me feel so welcome to the $schunt today.

Shame I couldn't have arrived any earlier but my daughter, da-da-da, yada yada  you know the rest.

Anyway, first sight was around a dozen $chunters riding past the end of my road as I was taking my daughter to school.  Quite shocked and of course pleased that so many of you made the trip down... some further than expected.

Of course, I remember some of the names and some of the faces, but whether I'll be able to put them all together again is doubtful.

Well, now I know that the $cars are out and about (except for today - only 18 tickets issued, so getting towards 100% compliance target.) I will be spending occasional days off out on the bike seeing if I can help my local council.

Welcome to the madness.

Think I did that one on a Sunday, just so I could get down Oxford Street.

The nice thing about today's $schunt was that Medway were being environmentally aware forcing none of us to use any fuel.

And the Pig Pen is in a much nicer setting than Westminster's

I went to a cafe, with someone who wasn't actually there  W:T:F:, we walked up to the counter, the woman behind the ramp says "do you enjoy your job ", "I love it" was my reply, she retorts "yeah, I bet you do, bloody cameras"

so, after explaining, we get a 180 degree turn from the lady and are welcomed to come and eat :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

It's unfortunate, but people see the camera logo, don't read the rest of the wording and jump to the wrong conclusion  :bashy: :bashy:

Ah yes the abuse! Whilst in leafy Hampstead yesterday a builder`s van drove passed me with the shout of "Wankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer >:D

Now BH used to be called a lot worse in his old job I can tell you but as a calm and polite member of the NoToMob, I wasn`t feckin having it so I caught the builder at the traffic lights and said "Twat, pull over!" Now at this point the builder must have thought  W:T:F: "a council Warden who wants a fight :dancing: :dancing:I`ll kill the bugger" So Bob the Builder pulls over in the middle of Hampstead High Street and squares up to me..."You lot are a feckin waste of space, robbing the  motorist with them fecking CCTV fingies" he says in clearly not a Hampstead accent I may add. Now at this point his mate, a rather large chap that would make KS look like a midget gets out the passenger seat and walks over as well. "Sigh" here we go BH thinks, at least the Royal Free Hospital is just down the road ::) Then the penny dropped as Bob actually reads the rest of the wording on my vest. :pmsl: "Sorry bruv" says Bob, real name Gary from Romford, I thought you were one of them C**nts from the Council. Let me buy you a cuppa tea" Says Gary.

So a welcome cup of tea and an education dished out to my new friends, I waved them goodbye with Romford Gary replying "Ta mate, keep up the good work against them c**nts!" A screech of brakes and Romford Gary was gone, leaving me to continue Lancaster Gate to The Royal Free. (Pat will understand)!

I went past in a vectra and to be honest it was the first time i actually saw the ceo actually writing notes otherwise they just sit there staring into space !!!

You may have noticed something odd. What was a bus stop doing right in front of the mosque ? Rather than budge it up a couple of feet they have decided to dump it where they know people are going to be trapped one way or another dropping or picking people up ? Im not beig religious or anything this is a prime exmaple of how annoying medways parking section is.
