This is great work BGB. :aplude: :aplude: :aplude: :aplude: :aplude: :aplude:

I assume you will be writing to your local council immediately to ask that they cease enforcement of these bus lanes forthwith pending correction of the signs, at the same time requesting that they pay back the 454 people who have been given PCNs for an offence they didn't commit?

And I'm sure you will want to c.c. your local papers in on this too? ;)

Excellent work BGB.

Object to their accounts if they do not repay. Get the press involved.

Skeggsy has just pointed out (he's round my house on a mission) that there is a problem with the times on two of these as well. Item 3 doesn't operate 07.00 to 10.00 and item 4 doesn't operate 16.00 to 19.00.

Perhaps another FoI BGB?

Surely they can't be enforcing the bus lane in Bethnal Green Road at all if it is marked as in Google street view?  There are no arrows informing that you need to pull out.

Nigel

LBTH does not enforce the Bus Lane in Bethnal Green Road (see FoI 5516) which is rather fortunate for them since, as you correctly observe, it is a mess.

The markings have have been re-painted since Google Street view was taken but this has only consisted of repainting the incorrect lines.  However, there are still numerous defects.  These include lack of/late deflection arrows and bus lane markings and yellow lines within a pedestrian crossing zig-zag.

Of most concern is the fact that the carriageway is narrowed to one lane for the pedestrian crossings adjacent to Wilmot Street and Ainsley Street, requiring traffic to use the left hand side of the carriageway which outside of the zig-zags constitutes the bus lane.

After the Ainsley Street Crossing there is a stretch of road which has a thick white line required for a bus lane but no bus lane sign or lane marking.  It is therefore not clear to the driver whether this stretch of the road is a bus lane or not.

This requires a driver proceeding west to proceed to the 2nd lane at the start of the bus lane, move back into the (single) 1st lane for the first crossing, back into the second lane (before the end of the zig-zags) between the crossings, back into the (single) 1st lane for the second crossing, deciding if the stretch of road immediately after the second crossing is a bus lane, before moving to the second lane again.  I am sure that this cannot be good design.

There was recently a fatal accident on the Ainsley Street Crossing.  The investigation is, so far as I know still continuing.

It is already on my list of future projects.

I have just learnt that LBTH supplied an out of date TMO to me, despite me asking them to check it.

 :bashy: :bashy:  :bashy:

Still, there are plenty of other things wrong round here.

Well done BGB do not relent keep at them and pass them a bigger shovel. The more you ask them, the deeper they dig their hole. :aplude: :aplude: :aplude:
