New Double Yellow Lines
« on: 27 February, 2012, 06:46:13 PM »
To save the Nutsville thread from diversion, I've started a new thread to list the new double yellow which have not been painted in accordance with the consultation document, as suggest by Pat.

No. 1 Little Essex Street.  The photographs are of the 'parking bay' on the North East side of Little Essex Street.  Look where the double yellow lines are in relation to the 'bay' taper.

I found plenty of other examples.

The diagram shows that the two tapers are not double yellows.  The pictures show the tapers to be marked with double yellows. Look on google maps from Milford Lane to see wher the double yellow lines have appeared.

Don't worry.  It makes sense if you are there.  There are a number of unconsulted (if that's a word) double yellows round the Aldwych area.

Got these a few days ago ;). Also spoke to a CEO who confessed he hadn't particularly noticed they were new or not? See what you reckon.

Your pictures (415 - 417) are better than mine.

The locals must have been puzzled at two strange (well at least one) men taking pictures of lines.

Ok. Got it now.

Note to self. Don't do anything that is the slightest bit complicated when you have had a couple of beers. :bashy: :bashy: :bashy:

How can they possibly know that already!!!

Maybe they are still issuing tickets at the same locations, but for the offence of double yellow lines rather than dropped kerb.  They can then quote the reduction in dropped kerb tickets as a "success".

There is a lot more revenue in DYL's than dropped kerbs.

Am I missing something here, how can as Rowley states DYL's assist motorists to park legally, they can certainly assist them to park illegally. Perhaps the way to help motorists park would be to provide more parking capacity at a reasonable cost instead of requiring a small mortgage every time you go there of course on top of £10.00 con charge.
In the same way he also assisted to make bike parking a lot more difficult, the only authority to charge has virtually no metalwork to secure your bike,I have parked in some parks where the bike has to be moved around just to find a surface to put a stand down. There are authorities outside of London with excellent free facilities Southend for one.
