So the simple question is....why a van W:T:F:? There must be a reason  Not sure though

Are they allowed to clamp ?  only reason I can think of them needing a van ??

No. WCC stopped clamping in 2008. This merely adds to the confusion as to the order of a van ANPR

Maybe they are going to start again :s  would tie in with the need for ANPR ?

I believe the only clamping that may take place again is for persistent  evaders ie those with 3 or more PCNs. This has not yet been confirmed though. This said, with ANPR tech, it is quite possible for the van to be uploaded with a simple data base of these "PE`s" details. If this is the way forward, we need to find out asap.

Seems to all point that direction :(  but would they not require a SIA specific license to clamp ?

I believe as a LA, they can apply for a generic SIA licence to cover all staff.

I've been told they're diesel. A lot cheaper to run and keep the occupants warm than IQ's. Will have to look into the clamping angle though. Maybe this is something we can ask Cllr. Rowley?

I think they would have costed the fuel type into the original business plan for the IQ`s. I smell something more than merely keeping NSL staff warm as NSL don`t give a Fu** about their staff!

Westminster Council did stop wheel clamping, although during that time you may have seen one or two cars and bikes on your travels with a wheel clamp. But these had the letters 'Phillips' on them and lots of reading material glued to the shiny parts of the vehicle.

But in Dec 2010 Westminster announced they were bringing back wheel clamping for repeat offenders and slow moving old age pensioners as it was agreed during a recent policy and scrutiny committee meeting that the rich, wealthy and gullible will be expecting to see only good looking young people partaking in the special Olympic 2012 re-enactment of Bay Watch at Horse-guards and nothing must offend or distract them from Westminster Council reliving them of their cash.

Westminster Council to reintroduce wheel clamping

I can't quite see the logic of the van, as it will cost NSL/WCC £10 per day in Congestion Charge, which the iQ's don't (they're exempt as they're both Euro 5 compatible and emit less than 99g/km in CO2 which is TfL's new standard) assuming it's diesel, it'll cost about the same in fuel.

Well I suppose the van will be permanently parked up around Grosvenor Square then will it?
As the American Embassy staff  and Diplomats owe millions in Con Charge.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Beer in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up,  totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a  ride!!"

I can just imagine the head line now.... !

It would be even better if the vehicle was destroyed in a controlled explosion.

Edit ............ Oooops I bet this forum just pinged a few alarm bells with that last line. Probably got MI5 MI6 looking all over it as we speak  W:T:F:
