$camera car in Outwich Street
« on: 18 February, 2014, 02:17:37 PM »
Hi All,

We have recently received two PCN's issued by $camera car opposite Outwich Street EC3. Our vehicle was delivering to Sushi Samba at Heron Tower, the loading bay is on Outwich Street but it was occupied so our driver parked on the double yellow lines (no kerb markings) on Outwich Street, just after the junction of Camomile Street but before the loading bay for Sushi Samba so I believe the $camera car was located on Camomile Street.

The PCN was issued for the alleged contravention 'Parked or loading / unloading in a restricted street where waiting and loading / unloading restrictions are in force' but as stated above, when I checked Google Streetview, there are no kerb markings so I believe that the PCN should have been issued for the contravention 'Parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours'.

I spoke to our driver, showed him Google Streetview and he verified that there are no kerb markings so I expected the PCN to be cancelled when I provided proof of delivery.

Not so! It has been refused and they insist that there are kerb markings at the location and that my Google Streetview pictures are 'out of date' (although I had stated that the driver verified this for me).

I now need to ask another driver if he can take some pictures of the location to verify the exact restrictions at this location but just wanted to give you a 'heads up' on this location.

Cheers, Deirdre

Make it quick Deirdre! I wouldn't put it past the sneaky weasels to go down and paint them in the middle of the night.

Here is a fine example of how to rip off motorists whilst denying all responsibility for dodgy signs. New signs appeared overnight according to the people of Birmingham. :bashy: :bashy: :bashy:

Councils are especially spiteful towards people who make successful appeals against their petty parking rules.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2557835/Man-wins-parking-ticket-battle-council-hit-painting-double-yellow-lines-space-outside-house.html

In the likely event of new markings appearing by the time your man gets there, make sure he takes plenty of high resolution images of the freshly applied markings. Your appeal should then be questioning why evidence of the alleged contravention was not captured at the time. i.e. why didn't the footage show the kerb markings if they were there all along.
Appealing to the council is like playing chess with a pigeon. You might be a chess grand master but the pigeon will always knock all the pieces over, shit on the board and then strut around triumphantly.

Hi All,

I have spoken to one of our more reliable drivers that I have been waiting to return from holiday to verify the road markings here and unfortunately, City of London are correct that my Google pics are out of date and there ARE now kerb markings at this location. Booooooooooo!

Driver informs me that as the loading bay for Heron Tower is often occupied, vans are always waiting up here. Well, we have two of these so I will be looking at whether there may be any other grounds of appeal...

Another one we will have to check out thanks Deirdre. If it's any consolation, with a bit of luck it should be in the near future that those $camera cars won't be able to issue PCNs any more. Eric Pickles wants to ban them and we've sent him and the government plenty of evidence that proves the case for getting rid of them for parking.
