New parking controls rolled out to cope with Spurs match demand

New parking regulations come into force for residents and visitors around the Tottenham Hotspur stadium today - the first changes to be made in six years.

Three new controlled parking zones (CPZs) are being introduced to regulate parking on weekdays and weekends, both when a match is being held and on other days.

Known as the Tottenham North CPZ, the Tottenham Hale North CPZ and the Tower Gardens CPZ, the new schemes have been worked up by Haringey Council following extensive consultation with residents.

Any drivers parking in the new zones without a disabled Blue Badge, residents’ or visitors’ permit, and those ignoring any pay-and-display requirements, will risk a fine of up to £202.

The Tottenham North CPZ is located around the stadium and will now operate from Monday to Saturday, 8am-6.30pm. The Tottenham Hale North CPZ and the Tower Gardens CPZ will operate Monday to Sunday, 8am-6.30pm.

All three zones will also be in operation on all match days - and from March 30 onwards the Tottenham Hale and Tower Gardens CPZs will expand on match days to cover an even larger area.

The boundaries of the Tottenham North CPZ are Park Lane and Church Road to the south, the borough boundary with Enfield to the north, Tariff Road/Worcester Avenue and Park Lane Close to the east, and Tenterden Road/Beaufoy Road and the railway line to the west. Click here for a detailed map.

In addition, when a match or event is held, the area will expand all the way eastwards up to and including Watermead Way, and all the way north to the borough boundary with Enfield. If a match day falls Monday to Friday, the restricted hours in this zone run from 8am to 8pm. If it falls on a Saturday, Sunday or bank holiday, the hours run from 12noon to 8pm.

The new Tower Gardens CPZ includes all or part of just six roads in the area and will operate 8am-6.30pm, seven days a week - but when a match or event is held, the area will expand to include every road bounded by The Roundway to the east, west and north, and Lordship Lane to the south. If a match day falls Monday to Friday, the restricted hours run from 5pm to 8.30pm. If it falls on a Saturday, Sunday or bank holiday, the hours run from 12noon to 8pm.

The Tottenham Hale North CPZ will operate 8am-6.30pm, seven days a week, in a specific set of roads bounded by Tottenham High Road to the west, Dowsett Road to the south and Lansdowne Road to the north.

But on match and event days, the CPZ will extend eastwards to the railway line and operate the same hours as for the Tower Gardens CPZ match and event days.

  • Veni, Vidi, $chunti. I came, I saw, I assisted.
Then to round off the little enterprise you could get a senior wea$el from a private limited company to come along and say something like, "If people did not break the rules, they would not be fined." The wea$el would of course tell everyone that he is the recognised authority on parking and should not be questioned.
Appealing to the council is like playing chess with a pigeon. You might be a chess grand master but the pigeon will always knock all the pieces over, shit on the board and then strut around triumphantly.

Probably manage to get a reference to child killers in there as well.

And if by some chance you fail to make enough money from PCNs, you can always put the cost of a residents permit up.

The residents could also make some money by selling the visitors permits.
