UK to ban CCTV spy cars
London: The UK Government Has Announced To Ban The CCTV Spy Cars Used For The Purpose Of Catching People Who Park Illegally.
The decision will curb the councils who use the method of fining as a means of regular revenue and will put an end to the task of issuing tickets by post.
Now with this, parking wardens will, in its place, have to fix tickets to windscreens. It will make unlawful for councils to issue fines to drivers using just the CCTV spy cars, which are currently in use for enforcement of on-street parking.
Councils, however, will still be able to make use of CCTV to issue postal tickets for any crimes that happen on routes, such as those close to schools and bus lanes, bus stops and on red routes.
The use of CCTV for enforcement of parking rules witnessed a significant increase from the time when it was introduced under Labour in 2004.
Nine million parking penalties are now issued by local authorities in England every year, collecting 1.3 billion pounds in the year 2010.
The ban is being put into place to restraint such parking enforcement practices, which the Government says has made people shop in markets outside town or online. The ban trails a three-month discussion.
