Was starting to think that half term might mean I couldn't get out this week but luckily my daughter decided to go to the pictures so figured there was a couple of hours for me to look after Medway.
Had to pop into the Post Office in Strood where I saw Blinky and family but just missed Monkey Girl. With a new flip front lid and a cut down mask I left with "good luck" ringing in my ears. Oh, and a torch cam strapped to the front. I'll post some vids up later. Quite pleased with the quality, just need to to get it mounted a little more snugly to stop it rattling.
Anyway, a quick scout round the town (starting at about 2:30) found Car 57 down at Blockbusters about to book a car who had just pulled off behind him. Luckily the driver had disabled badges so wasn't due a ticket and off we went on a tour of Chatham. Got up as far as Fort Pitt School where the $car stopped. Not sure why, there was nothing illegally or unsafely parked, and it's half term so no picking up or dropping off going on.
He was there for 5 minutes or so and I got chatting to a couple of women who wondered what was happening. Again, support for us, contempt for the council. As we were chatting the $car pulled away into the path of an oncoming car, almost causing an accident. Was my camera working? No, I'd switched it off while we were sitting doing nothing.
Oh well, off we go in pursuit. until we get to the bottom of Fort Pitt Hill where the car pulls out into traffic and I get blocked by a car turning right.
Sod it, lost him. Done a couple of circuits of Chatham but no luck so head over to Gillingham. No luck finding any cars so I stopped for a chat with one of the shopwners who had given me a thumbs up on an earlier lap and while we're chattiing he says "Here's one now". And in my mirror I can see Car 09 heading towards us. On with the gloves, and off I go.
A few laps of the local spots then off up to Hoo, where again, the school is closed. While there he manages to book someone illegally parked and then pulls away with a couple of vehicles between us. He tries to shake me off by pulling into a garage but fails, so it's off on a tour of Strood, where he almost gets someone outside the Bell pub but the locals quickly block his view of the number plate and thank the Mob for what they're doing. And so off to the Pig Pen by 6pm where two minutes after Car 57 arrives back.
And with that, I call it a day and head for home and a well deserved cuppa.
