New smart phone (Off topic)
« on: 02 March, 2011, 07:48:30 PM »
Hi all,

My vodafone contract on my Blackberry is due up and I`m looking to get a new smart phone. Whilst the I phone looks attractive, what other options are available and what tariffs/networks/deals are you getting???? I`m looking at a monthly tariff of no more than £35 per month with maximum talk and data. I don`t really use texts much these days so not important.

Shopping around is always best and your input is welcome!

Best.

I'd hang on a bit if you can as it seems the operating systems are half finished and there may well be a betamax/8-track/DAT amongst them. Windows 7 is piss poor so far. No cut'n'paste, no proper Outlook integration etc.

Yea it`s a tricky one :bashy: :bashy: :bashy: I phone 4 is great as a mini computer but the phone signal is poor ( As I experienced yesterday whilst talking to a mate) but I need to down grade my package asap as I am on a high talk time deal ((£70 PM) and I no longer use the minutes.

You could ask the mighty Bald Eagle, I understand he has recently upgraded from two baked bean cans and a very long piece of string?

Android no voice dialing. well not on my Samsung anyway, should be a basic feature of any phone.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Beer in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up,  totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a  ride!!"

Yeah but its still not a long enough bit of string to stretch from home to O street though.  :rotfl:

There is an Android app that provides auto-answer. I haven' tried it yet though. Available from: http://www.appbrain.com/app/autoanswer/com.everysoft.autoanswer

That's what I have too and had to search around to find the app in my previous post.

Dont buy the Nokia N8 unless u need a phone that can be run over alot!
The N8 freezes a lot! Which is really anoying when u try to answer it, then u have to switch it off and on,!
ALSO BEAR IN MIND THAT U WILL NEED A PHONE THAT AUTO ANSWERS many of them say they do, but they DONT..! So test it before u buy... Personally i will be going with HTC Next time.
