Woman fed up with strangers parking on her drive blocks one in with a tonne of gravel

Julie Geue, who lives opposite a station, was so fed up with strangers parking in her driveway that she used a tonne of gravel to block one in.

One woman had a novel way of dealing with strangers who parked on her driveway while they caught the train to work: she blocked a car in with a tonne of gravel.

Julie Geue, from Crowborough, East Sussex, had endured 10 years of strangers parking on the driveway at her house in Farningham Road, opposite Crowborough station. The station is on the busy commuter route to London Bridge station.

When one such stranger parked his car on her drive on the day it was due to be gravelled, she took action. She told her builders to place a bag of gravel, weighing a tonne, behind the car to block it in.

When the owner of the car returned to collect it after work, he found himself blocked in – plus a trowel in the gravel with a note from Julie attached: "Happy digging, at least it's not raining."

The vehicle’s owner claimed to have mistaken Julie’s driveway for that of a friend. However, for Julie, enough was enough.

"The offender in this case claims to have made a genuine error and got confused about which house he should be parking in front of,” Julie said.

"Unfortunately, after over 10 years of putting up with lazy, obnoxious and rude, often threatening, people doing this I no longer care if it's a genuine mistake or not."
