Wednesday $chunt: 6 April
« on: 07 April, 2011, 11:20:23 AM »
A somewhat mixed day. I received a phone call from Bennage shortly before getting to the central area, as a result of which I went straight to Orchardson Street. When I arrived there was just one van parked outside the garages and a couple of NSL folk hanging around by the ramp entrance.  Called Ben to let him know that I was on station and he said that he had just missed latching on to a $car, possibly TWP. It aooeared to be on its way to Saville Row and Ben decided to go and investigate. By this time Boyo had arrived at Camley Street and had checked in with Ben. I called Boyo and agreed that I would wait at O St whilst he finished his cup of restorative, following which he would join me. Whilst waiting, one of the $cars arruved back and the crew went inside. I made a quick call to BH who was on his way to the deepest darkest depths of SE London for his own nefarious purposes!

Boyo arrived and we were soon joined by a new, junior, potential member - Jack - on his electric scooter. After introducing ourselves we were treated to a demonstration of the capabilities of electric scooters as Jack showed us how tightly he could corner on his scooter and also popped a few wheelies up and down O St. We then took a call from Ben who was in Savville Row being mobbed by an irritation (is this the correct collective noun?) of CEOs and a couple of police officers. We left O St to go and assist and arrived there at around 11:30. Sadly, by the time we arived we discovered a whole lot of  'no Ben, no $car and no police'! Boyo called Ben who said that he was moving and seemed to be returning to the pigpen at O St. The two of us then backtracked and returned to base where we were joined by Ben who had temporarily mislaid his $car.

During the next half an hour or so TWP arrived back along with a couple of ANPR $cars. The three of us were kept entertained by some more demonstrations of electric scooterability, courtesy of Jack, before being alerted to the imminent departure of one of the ANPR $cars by its crew! This duly left escorted by Ben who had had a rather frustrating morning and Boyo and myself continued to enjoy the sunshine (and the increasingly inane chatter of our junior $chunter!) The boredom of the wait was alleviated by the arrival of Jonesy who was also treated to a show by our diminutive friend. Fortunately, at this point there were signs that TWP might be departing for another sortie so we prepared ourselves and moved to 'readiness stations'. As it turned out TWP didn't move away and we remained on the opposite side of Frampton Street, in a less conspicuous position, near the school entrance. Whilst waiting here the ANPR $car returned followed by Ben, who joined us by the school (and away from Jack!).

After about 30 mins, the driver of TWP appeared and Ben and myself were told that he would not be going out again as the camera on his car was defective. We decided to take this at face value and, having heard from our colleagues in Southwark that they could use some assistance, Jonesy and Bennage checked their passports and vaccination certificates and headed off to below the blue line (River Thames to the uninitiated!). Boyo and myself hung around until about 15:30 and then decided to call it a day.

All in all, not the best of day's $chunting but, as always good company - thanks Bennage, Boyo and Jonesy!
