WCC possible new honey pot?
« on: 04 May, 2011, 07:54:52 PM »
Hi all and I hope everyone is well?

On my Knowledge travels this PM I saw a new road change. From the Haymarket you turn right into Jermyn St. Now up until a few months ago there was a bollard stopping you from forwarding over Regent St and again into the continuation of Jermyn St. This bollard has now gone and has been replaced with a Forced Right turn (See pic).

Loads of motorists were making the forward movement onto Jermyn Street so we may have a new honey pot here guys :bashy:

The camera sign underneath the turn right sign is an indicator that you may well be right BH.

You didn't happen to notice a static camera anywhere nearby by any chance...?

No mate. My run navigated me around that part of Jermyn St but I got stuck in traffic and saw all of the cars moving forward :bashy: I couldn`t get back around there so I posted the question up on my Knowledge forum and someone emailed me this recent picture. Opinions on the signs here....is all OK?

If you are about on the mass $chunt on Saturday and we can find the time, perhaps you could take me down for a look please?

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Beer in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up,  totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a  ride!!"

@ Belplasca

All Wastemonster's TMOs are here:

http://westminstertransportationservices.co.uk/tmo/map.php

The one I can find that specifically refers to Jermyn Street is here:

No. It's 1999 no. 048:

"4. Every person causing any vehicle to proceed in Jermyn Street in the City of Westminster shall thereupon cause that vehicle, on reaching the junction with Regent Street, to tum right into Regent Street "

But there's nothing in there about allowing a $camera car to park with impugnity...

:)

JERMYN STREET/REGENT ST

Read earlier posts from Elvis and others re this:

There is now no turn right only sign at this junction. The blue and white sign in the photo is a "advanced warning of turn right only ahead" sign which is not enforceable. The only enforceable signs are the "no left turn" signs on the traffic light posts. (I was old bill for 30 years) Whether or not you chaps/lasses want to try this out on an examiner is a different kettle of fish of cousre !!! I've gone straight over there three times this week. If any nasties arrive I'll stick a post on. Good Luck everyone.it's worth it in the end

BE and folk what do you think

I've seen rubbish trucks drive straight over there for years. Should the traffic lights have an arrow shaped green light on them also if this is a right turn only junction?

The $cars will struggle to park legally on Jermyn Street - I used to deliver coffee to Fortnums and, if I remember correctly, there's only one bay (on the right hand side, at the rear of Fortnums) and that's occupied more or less continuously by delivery vehicles. The rest of the road is so narrow, they'd have to 'bump up' on the pavement which of course is illeagal.  :-ev-:
