Linda Piper, Gerald Styles, Andrew Merron mystery
« on: 17 August, 2011, 12:28:15 PM »
On July 27th, Linda Piper reported in the News shopper that Andrew Merron had won his appeal against a ticket issued for parking with two wheels on the pavement. Mr Merron was quoted as saying, "I now urge anyone else who has received a parking ticket for parking with wheels on the pavement while between the signs to appeal against the fine or to demand a full refund."

Why did Mr Merron say this when Mr Styles wrote in his reasons for allowing the appeal,

" "In marked bays" is not a mandatory inclusion on the posted sign. It is as the Council  says a "permitted variant". "    http://www.patasregistersofappeals.org.uk/StatReg/case.aspx?caseref=2110176299

Mr Merron and Mrs Piper are not stupid. They must have been aware that Mr Styles had swerved setting a precedent by writing, "I  accept he was  a stranger to the area and did not park the car wilfully in breach of the 2up bay markings  that indicated 2up parking on the side of the  highway where he parked on the evening he visited friends in Tyrrell Avenue ie outside 85."

Why did the News shopper print Mr Merron's encouragement which, it could be argued, leads readers to believe that he had forced Gerald Styles to set a precedent?

Why is the article not available on the news shopper website, you can only get it on the bexley is bonkers website?

Why did Linda Piper suddenly leave her post as News Shopper's Bexley reporter for 19 years to move to Holy Island to study for a history degree?

If Mrs Piper's article was misleading, shouldn't the overall editor take some of the blame?

Who was more devious, Mr Styles or Mrs Piper?

Who was really acting in the pubic's interest?

Would it be better for the public if Gerald Styles was banished to a remote island?
