Yea PMR is ok mate, but I want to use other freq's :)  can get much better range and dont generally get the interference you can with pmr :)

I know a few that have handhelds that can go onto other freq's, but are unlicensed to use them...  you need a call sign, which you get assigned once you pass the course :)

I think Coco on here recently took the course. He can advise on it. This said, I have listened to London repeaters and the old school respect seems to now be gone. Anyone with a £30 radio can tune in and transmit without any fear of the law. Offcom seem to have better things to do these days. 20+ years ago, Ham radio was a hobby of those that had a real interest whilst the idiots stuck to CB.

This said, if you have an interest in radio, it maybe fun for you :D
