New camera @ St. Martins Lane
« on: 01 March, 2011, 11:23:04 PM »
Look what I noticed at St. Martins Lane.   It's facing the wrong way (away from our favourite junction).

Forgive me if this is old news...

Think these are to count traffic flow and pattens... had them up at junctions around here a while back.

They've put one of those up in Drury Lane where I park.

Vincent Knight say it's just a study to monitor traffic flow and is not enforcement. CCTV is used solely to record footage for counting vehicles. Allegedly.

This from there website

Earl’s Court Area Parking Study

Vincent Knight was recently appointed to undertake a parking survey to support their transport work relative to the proposed major redevelopment of the Earl’s Court Regeneration area.  This large-scale survey covered a wide area, and Vincent Knight both offered advice on the best and most efficient parking survey methods to meet the client’s requirements, then carried out the surveys work.  The data was delivered in a format that allowed direct comparison with historical data for the areas held by Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham Councils, whilst we also presented findings thematically on plans which proved very useful to the client.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Beer in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up,  totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a  ride!!"

Here we go again  W:T:F:

Parking Survey:  Boroughwide Parking Compliance Survey, LB Camden

This exercise recorded parking compliance during weekday, Saturday and Sunday parking controls, by way of parking beats identical to that patrolled by the Councils parking enforcement officers (privately contracted). The compliance of each and every vehicle parked ‘on-street’ was recorded during the survey, and when vehicles were found to be in contravention these were again coded in the same way and using the same coding as used by the parking enforcement contractors, for example (i) parked on yellow lines or (ii) parked on permit bays without a valid permit etc.

The survey was carried out using handheld computers and the data collected directly into software designed by us to simplify the detailed and complex data collection expected of our fieldworkers.

One reason quoted for our selection for this exercise, amongst fierce competition with 13 rivals, was our previous experience of successfully delivering large-scale and complex borough wide parking surveys for numerous other councils, including large scale compliance monitoring exercises, and also the methodology and reporting options we put forward.

The data was delivered to the client in a way that enabled them to easily undertake direct comparisons between the contravention opportunities identified by our surveys findings and actual enforcement contractor performance, both in spreadsheets and visually, and to understand the overall compliance figure for the Borough. This work was completed very much to the client’s satisfaction.

It has now been replaced by a far more discrete, if somewhat home-made and rickety, version north of the 1st bike bay on the same side. There's a strong box padlocked to a street sign with telescopic pole and a small CCTV cam clamped on top. It points north to where the minicabs usually park up.  Vincent Knight labels.
