Southampton Row Bus Lane Camera 244 - FOI

So I wanted to know how much money $SCAMDEN are really making (from camera 244 on Southampton Row) and I decided to ask some questions and here is the response.

1) The number of PCN's issued by the controllers of this camera

224 from 28th February 2012 to 28th February 2013 for all

Contravention Codes is: 11,082 PCNs

2) The number of PCN's that were issued for Contravention Code

34 & 34j (Bus lane) by this same camera from 28th February 2012

to 28th February 2013 is: 6,640 PCNs

3) The total amount of income generated from the PCN's issued

by Camera 224 for Contravention Code 34 & 34j from 28th

February 2012 to 28th February 2013 is: £440,927

3a) In addition the total income generated by this camera (Camera

224) for all offense codes from 28th February 2012 to 28th

February 2013: £729,599

4) The number of PCNs issued by camera 224 regarding

Contravention Code 34 & 34j which were challenged by motorists

and the reasons for the challenge from 28th February 2012 to

28th February 2013 is:  466 Formal Representations. We cannot

report the reasons for each formal representation as we cannot provide

data relating to 3

However, we can advise that each PCN is considered on its own merits

and on a case by case basis. I can also advise that of the 466 formal

Representations 25 were accepted; 406 were rejected and 35 cases

are showing as ‘open’.

All in all $SCAMDEN are making a shitload of money from this single camera alone and they know it! They have made nearly £729 million from one single camera. Thousands of people are falling into this trap and handing over their hard earned cash....WTF!!!

Interesting figures Jiggaman. 729 grand by the way, not million although 729 grand is still a lot of money for one single pimple on the arse of humanity. What is of interest is that there were around 11,000 PCNs and around 1,100 challenges or about 10% (rounded figures) Recent history has taught us that only approx. 1% of PCNs are challenged. The fact that your FOI shows a percentage nearer 10% means the serfs are awakening from their slumber. I see some of the rejected appeals are shown as 'open' but I would have liked to have seen how many of the rejected appeals went on to PATAS. Good info that man.

I would guess that the appeals shown as "open" are ones that are currently somewhere between rejection by $camden and adjudication at PaTAS.
